What is it?

Quote :
ET: Legacy is based on the source code of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory which was released under the GPLv3 license.
The main goal of this project is to fix bugs, remove old dependencies and make it playable on all major operating systems
while still remaining compatible with the ET 2.60b version and as many of its mods as possible.

Why should I try it?
I had lags and other problems using ET 2.60b, now they are gone cheers
You can not play on Punkbuster servers using this client.

1. Download file for Windows or Linux here: http://www.etlegacy.com/projects/etlegacy/wiki/Download
I have Windows 7 so I had to download small (17MB) .exe file. Installation is quick - pak0.pk3, pak1.pk3, pak2.pk3 and mp_bin.pk3 files are copied from original ET folder.
When the installation is complete new shortcut icon should appear on the desktop, you can edit properties to quickly connect to G!X servers if you want to, as shown in Rob's guide, there's no big difference.

Files that are required to run the game are stored in the path you chosen during installation but you can't place maps, mods etc. there.
The right directories to do so are listed below:

  • Windows: $USER\documents\WolfETL\
  • Linux: $HOME/.wolfetl
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support

We have Nitmod servers so if you want to have your xp and level after switching to ET Legacy:
Go to your ET/Nitmod folder, for example E:\Enemy Territory\nitmod
Copy nkey.dat file.
Go to User/Documents/WolfETL/ (for Windows users) and create folder and name it 'Nitmod'.
Paste your nkey.dat file to created directory, for example C:\Users\guest\Documents\WolfETL\nitmod

I don't know if it is necessary for Nitmod but you can copy 'etkey' file from Enemy Territory/etmain folder to the appropriate directory in User/Documents/WolfETL/

ET Legacy supports most mods, full list:

Everything else you need, for example new or changed cvars, can be found here:

Outstanding! About the key however....if I am not mistaken they are not used for Nitmod because they have actual database type files for saving XP and Levels.
